About us and our mission
The European Foundation for South Asian Studies (EFSAS) has an international team of highly skilled professionals with profound knowledge of the region. EFSAS stands out in comparison to other Think-tanks due to its capacity to draw on excellent research conducted by its own academicians.
EFSAS relies on funding from the EU (European Commission Projects) and is a member of the Civil Society Empowerment Programme (CSEP), which is coordinated by the Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) Centre of Excellence, and is funded by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs. At present, EFSAS is a 'Leading Coordinating Organization' in two EU Projects (Free4Youth & DRIVE) and a 'Partner Organization' in various other EU projects, and is currently also in the process of exploring funded projects initiated by the various bodies and mechanisms of the United Nations (UN) which are related to EFSAS' expertise and the region of South Asia.
As a socially aware and inclusive part of society, EFSAS believes in equality independent of race, color, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, physical or mental disability and marital status. EFSAS has formalized this commitment in the EFSAS Equality Plan, which is available upon request.
Our policy-oriented research strives to elucidate events in South Asia and formulate strategies that shape public discourse concerning the region in order to promote peace, security, and sustainable development.
EFSAS provides strategic in-depth analysis, research, statistical data, policy advice and forecasts related to developments in the fields of politics, international relations, conflict management, human rights, security, diplomacy, strategic affairs and conflict resolution in South Asia. Our core specialization is in the fields of Terrorism, Indo-Pak relations and the Jammu & Kashmir conflict and our greatest strength lies in the application of comparative regional analysis and research.
EFSAS furnishes decision-making institutions, opinion-makers, civil society and academics with high-quality policy analysis and recommendations regarding South Asia. We are committed to advance the cause of peace through research and engagement with decision-makers at the local, national and international level.
We firmly believe that the exchange of information is of paramount importance in understanding any conflict, which in turn is critical in the search for steps that lead to its resolution. EFSAS is convinced that dialogue, based on unbiased research and data, is essential to peace and prosperity in South Asia and the rest of the world.
Our mission is to conduct in-depth research and conceive new ideas in order to find sustainable solutions to conflicts and facilitate an atmosphere of reconciliation, peace and tranquility.
The research and debates that we engage in and organize are reflected in our publications which manifest our mission statement: Excellence, Genuineness & Authenticity
